Circular Venice Souvenirs
May 2025
For the Bursting Bubbles event, during the Venice Biennale Architettura 2025, Superuse offers a souvenir that is both meaningful and sustainable. We combined two second-hand T-shirts into one unique Venice T-shirt. Silk-screened and joined at the waist, they reflect on the rising sea levels while contributing to a future without the additional footprint of new materials.
Souvenir T-shirts are more than just clothing; they are a reminder of special experiences. However, their production is often accompanied by a significant waste of resources.
The production process of the Flood-Line Shirt: Sofia and Tom traveled far and wide by bicycle to find well-worn T-shirts. The shirts were hand-selected based on colour, texture, and waist size. By matching these sizes, the pieces could be interchanged to create the unique Venezia Flood-Line Shirt.
The shirts were screen printed at the Mesh Print Club with the help of Ivan, after which they were cut in half and paired by colour and size. Fashion Hosseini, Rotterdam, took on the daunting task of sewing the shirts together neatly.
The result, the Flood-Line Shirt, is an amazing combination of colours and textures, created through honest work and using almost no new raw materials.
