De Architect: ‘Bouwen met wat er is’
March 2024
On Wednesday March 27, De Architect will launch the new print edition at Pakhuis de Zwijger: ‘Bouwen met wat er is. Over hergebruik en afval als grondstof.’ Including an essay by Jan Jongert and construction law professor Stéphanie van Gulijk.
The Environment and Planning Act and the Quility Assurance (Buildings) Act reformulate the tasks and responsibilities of almost all construction parties. Except from architects. And that while the EU sees them as game changers. Without a new legal framework for architectural commissions, architects cannot play that role, argue Jan Jongert and Stéphanie van Gulijk. They call for a contract where circular design is not a closing item or extra work but is rewarded as a starting point.
During the launch of the print edition Hans Hammink (de Architekten Cie.), Hade Steenwinkel (Fiction Factory), Jan Jongert (Superuse), Benjamin Robichon (WRK Architects), Cécile van Oppen (Copper8), Frank Hanswijk and Jochem Kromhout (Boschgaard) will discuss what reuse means in current practice. We will explore what it takes to realise the ambition of the Dutch government and what role the architect can play in this.
When: Wednesday March 27, 20:00
Where: Pakhuis de Zwijger, Piet Heinkade 179, Amsterdam
